Who lives here?
Wendy & John Zimmerman, a retired couple from Taranaki who love to travel, both in New Zealand and internationally. They are visited by their 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
What do you love the most about your new home?
John loves the steel frame. "We knew we wanted a steel frame. That was important to us. They're just so much stronger and sturdier. It's what you need when you live in New Zealand!"
Wendy loves the morning sun! Before they started building, the Golden Homes® team helped Wendy & John position their house perfectly on their block of land so that they get that lovely morning sun each day.
What is surprising about this home?
"We used to live in a large home that had grown to be just too big for us. Our new home is smaller but feels bigger than what it actually is- we were surprised at how nicely the kitchen, dining and living areas flow together. It’s lovely and open for when the grandkids visit, but without all the unnecessary space. Less cleaning for us!"
Culinary Creations
The kitchen is the activity hub of every home. Wendy and John love their new kitchen, and loved designing it too. "The consultancy with the interior designer was a lot of fun. She helped us choose colours that matched and we love how it turned out. The only hiccup that we had was that the bench-top that we chose wasn’t able to be ordered. But it worked out for the better in the end because they upgraded us to the more expensive option for free!"

John and Wendy have built before, so they knew precisely what they were looking for when they started looking for someone to take on their next project.
